New Jersey plans to unveil new measures to combat problem gambling within its borders. Part of the new regulations is introducing the role of responsible gaming coordinator and setting advertisement standards for gambling operators. The Garden State also seeks to make it more straightforward for gamers to get self-exclusion tools at online casino sites in the United States.
The new measures were announced by the state's Attorney General Mathew J. Platkin and David Rebuck, Director of the DGE. This follows a meeting held at the East Coast Gaming Congress inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City.
According to Platkin, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement's new "senior level" job will convey a message that they take their jobs seriously. He confirmed that an accomplished attorney would fill the position of responsible gaming coordinator.
In the new regulatory changes, operators must include the state's 1-800-GAMBLER hotline in all their bonuses and promotions. In addition, the advertising of gambling bonuses and other services is now illegal in places where it can expose anyone under 21 to gambling. Moreover, operators must be explicit about bonus wagering requirements and stop advertising "risk-free" bet bonuses if the gambler won't receive full compensation for their money lost.
Along with the present in-person consultations and online applications, Platkin recently revealed the addition of a video-conference option to its self-exclusion package. The state also plans to set up a 24/7 365 helpline to help players find self-exclusion procedures quickly.

In the face of that boom, we have a duty to protect the public from advertising that could be misleading or harmful. And for those in the grip of gambling addiction, we need to offer as many exit ramps from their condition as possible”.
